Unethical secondary ticketing occurs when people buy tickets at face value, then sell them at inflated prices using methods and websites not approved by the performers, denying real fans the opportunity to buy them at face value. Ticket sellers and unauthorised resellers use multiple payment cards, fake identities and sophisticated computer programs (bots) to buy large quantities of tickets that they then offer for resale at very high prices.
